Live Green - Paint Creek Web Creations.

My name is Kay LittleJohn. I want to share with you a little about who I am.

Let's start off with my technical background. I started working in the technology industry back in 1986, so I have over 20 years experience working in the technology industry.

I had the good fortune of working for some large corporations, mostly pharmaceutical companies and a few banks.  I received a lot of really great training (attending internal and external classes), as well as great on the job experience.

About 10 years ago, I decided to move back to these mountains that are my home. I had been living in the Philadelphia area where I worked for some of those large corporations. I decided that I would take a sabbatical for a few years. During my sabbatical, I worked with my partner on building up his Native American Indian Flute business. You see, I'm Native American and my father, Hawk LittleJohn was also Native American and a flute maker.

I actually helped with making the flutes, selling the flutes, setting up the business side of things (billing, taxes, etc...), traveling to shows (mostly Native American Indian fine art shows), etc... I really enjoyed doing this.

But (yes, there is a BUT), I missed working with technology. Even though I created our flute business web site (Mountain Spirit Flutes), it wasn't enough to fulfill my need/desire to work more with technology. So, I decided that I would start my own business creating web sites for folks and businesses. My father had always told me that I was meant to walk in two worlds (Indian Art World and Information Technology world). So, I embrace both worlds today. I still attend shows some with my partner and help with some of the business side of things, but most of my days are spent creating and updating web sites for folks and businesses. Since Technology is an ever changing world, I spend some of my time learning new things, which is one the aspects of technology that helps to keep it interesting.

Creating web sites is not only technical, but also creative. It allows me to express both sides of my brain and then blend it all together to create a web site that not only follows industry coding standards, but that is also aesthetically pleasing. I love having the balance between my creative side and my technology side. I find my work most satisfying these days.

I have launched my web development business, called Paint Creek Web Creations. I chose Paint Creek as part of my business name because we live on Upper Paint Creek in the most eastern part of Tennessee.

One of the reasons the creek is called Paint Creek is due to the fact that there is so much ochre rock in and around the creek. In days gone by, ochre rock was used to create paint by our ancestors (Cherokees) that lived in this area.

We actually use the ochre rock today as stone inlay into our high end flutes. The colors are very earthy and are just beautiful, which I so love.

I would be happy to talk with you about your web site needs. Feel free to call me at: 423-638-5750 or email me at: Kay. I look forward to hearing from you. Have a great year.

Below is a Youtube slide show that I created. It contains photos of where I live, photos of my Dad, me and a couple of my siblings.  The music and stories are my Dad's.  I put this up to not only share with others, but in loving memory of my father.  I hope you enjoy it.
